We are very excited about this doeling! She comes from excellent milk lines: Green Gables’ MB Dorothy 4*P is her dam, and Goat Trails Finley’s Gem Texas Pete is her sire. Both of those lines are known for MILK.
Despite being seven years old, Dorothy is still a high producer, and her body has held up really well, thanks to the famed genes of her grandsire, Green Gables SS Moonbeam *B. We are eager to acquire as many of Dorothy’s doelings as we can, so we were thrilled when Dorothy gave us Bridget in 2020.
We almost lost her, however, in 2020. She contracted listeriosis and has a prolonged recovery. She has a lasting paralysis of the mouth that caused her to dribble cud all night for weeks. But, God was kind and gave us the gift of her healing as a Christmas miracle. (You can read this story in more detail HERE.)
We are SO excited to try breeding her in the fall of 2021. She is tall, and is G6S normal by parentage, F6 (Purebred), with gorgeous, long, soft, frosted ears and a beautiful buckskin color.
Bridget is a striking doe with outstanding breed character. We’re very excited to see her udder develop, and to be pairing her with our new, exciting buckling Blackberry’s BQ Once in a Blue Moon.
