Mimzie is a real sweetheart, excellent mother & great milker. She gave triplet doelings as a FF in 2017, and quads as a 2nd freshener in 2018! Twins in 2019, and quads again in 2020 and 2021. We tried to put her on milk test in 2020, but… COVID.
In 2021, Mimzie easily earned her production star. In fact, in the MDGA national rankings for milking Mini Nubians, she ranked 7th nationally for milk weight, and 10th in butterfat weight. She was 5 years old that year.
We did not breed Mimzie in 2021 for 2022 because she has given us so much that we felt she needed a break. I was concerned about her hips: she seldom laid down when heavily pregnant. So, we decided to milk her through. We milked her for over a year, and she was still milking strong when finally dried her off simply because I also wanted her to rebuild the calcium in her body.
We have retained two of her daughters: Storybook’s Ambrosia and Storybook’s Doux Champagne. We hope to breed Mimzie again this year for 2023!
