Storybook’s Sheila O’Malley

Sheila: shy, quiet, unassuming… and polled!

Sheila flies under the radar in our boisterous herd. She’s neither last nor first in the meley of kids. She is sweet and pretty, easy to catch, but doesn’t beg for attention.

Her dam, Green Gables MB Dorothy 4*P, and sire, Goat Trails Finley’s Gem Texas Pete gave us three polled kids in mid-April of 2021. Two were doelings–extra remarkable because it was a buck year for us.

I LOVE this line. Green Gables’ O’Malley genes bring high milk productions, and their Moonbeam lines bring longevity. We have retained both of the doelings Dorothy gave us in this litter.

Sheila was born in mid-April, so we held her over for breeding in the fall of 2022, but we sure are looking forward to seeing her freshen in 2023.

Sheila’s Udder

Sheila’s FF udder did not disappoint. It is high and well attached, with a great medial and nice teat placements.

Her twin doelings both prefer the right teat, so she always looks a bit lopsided.

Sheila’s Kids

2023 Kids

Sheila was paired with Storybook’s Nonpareil for her first freshening at 18 months old. She flawlessly delivered twin polled doelings on the hill above our barn by herself.
