Go, go Mayflower!
Mayflower was the firstborn in her litter. The birth was very strange, but Mayflower (named partly for her May 2 birth) came out lusty and ready for life, while her sister struggled to survive. She’s been a healthy, bouncy girl ever since.
Her dam is JC’s Bluebelle 3*P and her sire is Goat Trails’ Finley’s Gem Texas Pete. Pete is polled, but Mayflower’s sister, Lilac, got the polled genes. Nothing daunted, Mayflower is a mini-me of her mom: a chocolate roan, with looong beautiful ears and strong, well-sprung, robust body. She is long and deep like her dam.
She freshened as a 2 year old for the first time, with a single buckling.

Mayflower’s Dam Line
Her dam is JC’s Bluebelle 3*P. Mayflower is a mini-me of her mom: a chocolate roan, with looong beautiful ears and strong, well-sprung, robust body. She is stockier, and shorter, than her dam.
This is Bluebelle’s 3F udder. You can see more of Bluebelle’s udder pictures, and her dam’s pictures here.
Mayflower’s Sire Line
Mayflower’s sire is Goat Trails’ Finley’s Gem Texas Pete. Pete is polled, but Mayflower’s sister, Lilac, got the polled genes.
You can see the udders behind this handsome, purebred sire here.
Mayflower’s Udder
Mayflower freshened as a two-year-old because of breeding mishaps at Storybook Farm in 2022. She freshened for the first time with a singleton buckling, and her udder was nicely shaped, but Mayflower was a total pill on the stand! This is a picture of the measures we had to go to in order to train her to stand up for milking.
We don’t have 12-hour fill pictures. We are hoping for multiple kids in 2025 with better production and manners — and pictures.

2024 Kid
Mayflower was paired with Mosaic’s Mahogany Obsidian *B and produced a single buckling, named Jack Frost. He was the cutest baby, and had the longest ears in the barn!
