Giselle is a 1st generation doe who has exquisite feminine breed character and lots of milk in her pedigree.
Here at Storybook Farm, her udder is overall our best conformed, and also second most productive. Giselle’s milk just keeps coming over long months.
In 2021 MDGA’s Top Ten national milk testing program, Giselle placed in ALL THREE categories: #8 for milk weight, #9 for butter fat weight, and #10 for butterfat percent!
Giselle is double registered: MDGA is below; also TMGR registrable, as can be her kids.

Giselle’s Kids at Storybook Farm
2020 Kids
Giselle came to us in the late fall having just completed enough milk tests to earn her star. We bred her the next day to Finley’s Gem Texas Pete, our polled buck. She gave birth to two doelings and a buckling. The two girls were polled; we followed the French theme of Giselle’s name and called them Storybook’s Cherie and Storybook’s Amie (both retained). The boy was a beautiful, moonspotted, horned boy, whom we called Storybook’s Romeo.
2021 Kid
Giselle was bred to Joyoue Farm’s Le Tigre, and kidded in 2021 with a single buckling. He was 10 pounds and so beautiful that we retained him. We call him Storybook’s Prince Valiant.
2022 Kids
Giselle was again bred to Joyoue Farm’s Le Tigre, and had a difficult kidding. She had triplets, but they were tangled in her womb. A doeling got stuck butt first, while her sister pushed past her to be born. We had to call our vet to come and untangle both of the remaining kids, who were both breach, butt first. Unfortunately, the remaining doeling did not make it, but her brother is stunning. These two are full brother/sister to our own Prince Valiant (see above). We retained Storybook’s Annette, and she is just gorgeous with a beautiful FF udder!
2023 Kids
Giselle had a hard time this year. She was bred to Tiger one more time before Tiger went to another farm, and she conceived quads, but only two developed fully, and Giselle needed extra care after kidding. Below are her two pretty boys: Storybook’s Moons of Jupiter and Storybook’s Saturn.
2024 Kids
Giselle was not bred by us this year! Because of difficult kiddings in the past two years, we had determined to retire her. She was not informed of this, and duly came into heat. We had errands off-farm that day, and when we came home, she had defied the fences and been bred by one (or both!) of our two best bucks. We will be using DNA testing to determine the sire(s) of two beautiful, moonspotted doelings! Giselle had an easy and normal birth with these two, but we still plan to retire her. Meanwhile, we are retaining her doelings. 🙂
