Skillman’s Star AR 4*D and Green Gables’ E Asher *B are two of my favorite goats here at Storybook Farm, so it is no wonder that I prayed hard for a doeling from this match. Well, let’s be honest: I prayed for two doelings from this pairing (‘cause I am that greedy)! When it was coming close to Star’s delivery date, no kids were in sight, and she did not even look pregnant. I had a positive blood test, so I knew she had been pregnant, but as days passed after what should have been her delivery date, I wondered if she had slipped her baby early on.
However, the day came when I noticed that she was, indeed, in labor! And what a labor it was: super stressful with her single doeling in a totally wrong position. You can read details here, but at any rate, I was thrilled that Star did indeed give me a doeling, and that that little girl survived.
She is like both her parents: both moonspotted and a buckskin. Because she looks so much like her mom, I named her Twinkle (twinkle, little Star). 😉
As I anticipated, Twinkle has grown into a long-legged graceful doe. Star is 94% Nubian, so Twinkle is on the tall side. We paired her with Joyour Farm’s Le Tigre in 2021, and we got two fine twins: Gleam and Glimmer (pictured below).

2021 Kids
In 2021 Twinkle had kids sired by Joyous Farm’s Le Tigre. We named them Glimmer and Gleam. Glimmer was retained.
2022 Kids
In 2022, we paired Twinkle with Bellhouse’s Rigel *B. She had three gorgeous kids: a buckling and two doelings. We put her on milk test as well. We retained Celeste and Shimmer (not yet pictured).
