JC’s Penelope is a beautiful young doe.
We are so blessed to be getting her in 2022! We had already purchased her daughter, JC’s Biscotti, earlier in the spring from her breeder, Jennifer Crawford. In mid-April, Jen’s husband accepted a new job and Jen had to downsize her herd in order to make the move to a different region of the country. She was gracious enough to entrust Penny to us!
Penny was born in March of 2020, and freshened in January of 2022 for the first time with triplets (one of whom is Biscotti).
Penny has a level topline and well sprung barrel. Her breed character is lovely. She has a great brisket, nice rear-leg angularity, and her udder is high and tight (see pictures below!).
Her skin is soft and her teat orifaces are wide and easy to milk.
Penny’s Registrations
Penny is dual registered. She has her milk star with TMGR, but missed getting her 1-Day MDGA milk star by just a few points. We hope to put her on 305-Day test in 2023.

Penny’s Udder
This is Penny’s FF Udder.
She is about 60 days fresh in this picture, after her first 12-hour separation. She milked about 5#.
It is high and tight. Great lateral attachments and nice teat placement. Her skin is soft, and her orifaces are wide.
We are excited to be milk testing her in 2023, God willing.
Penny’s second freshening udder. We love how high it is, the strong attachments. The teats are a great size, shape, and super easy to hand milk.
Overall, we’re very pleased! We confidently expect that Penny will earn her star next year if we are able to proceed with milk testing.
2022 KIds
Penny’s first freshening was at JC farm, where she was bred. She kidded with triplets, of whom Jennifer Crawford retained two, and sold us one: JC’s Biscotti. We hope to breed Biscotti in the fall of 2023 for 2024 first freshening.
2023 Kids
Penny was paired with Storybook’s Nonpareil, confirmed through DNA testing as our records on this one pairing got muddled. She delivered two doelings (left) and one buckling (right).
2024 Kids at Storybook Farm
Above, you see Biscotti. She was from a pairing of Storybook’s Bramble *B and Penny in 2022. Penny gave birth to triplet does from this pairing, and all three does have proved to be outstanding milkers with high, tightly attached udders. We bought first Biscotti and then Penny (when JC farms had to move across country and thus downsize). We were so excited to be able to almost repeat the 2022 pairing this year with Storybook’s Buckeye *B (Bramble’s full brother; different litter) and Penny. She gave birth to two beautiful kids: a doeling (Chloe) and a buckling (Timothy).
