Rigel has grown up at Storybook Farm. He was one of the first goats we purchased, and what a great decision that turned out to be!
Rigel has turned into a handsome, sweet, funny boy who gives his great length of body, serious milk genes, and (sometimes) blue eyes to his kids. Here he is at 18 months old.
This is him in rut in the fall of 2020, so he’s not groomed his best. We’ll be getting a better picture this summer.

Sparrow is a gorgeous and very feminine doe. She is long and elegant, with beautiful long soft ears, and a strong, yet feminine roman nose. Sparrow had gorgeous triplet doelings as a first freshener and produced 8lbs, 6oz at her peak. She had triplet bucklings in 2019.

Tex’s dam milks over 8# a day with nice udder. He has LONG ears, and very nice conformation. He’s nice and wide, and he’s given Bellhouse very pretty babies–like Rigel!

His 2020 Kids
Rigel was not supposed to father any kids in 2020, but there was an incident one day, and a gate got left open. The minute I saw the blue eyes on these two sisters (2 of quads, by Udderly Precious Mimz the Word), I knew what the results of DNA testing would be!
I am SO GLAD that Rigel showed me his stuff! I love the length of body in these two girls I retained: Pixie and Ambrosia (below). Mimzie is consistently the highest producer in our barn. Rigel has great milk genetics behind him as well. Pixie was bred to Asher for 2021, and had a single buckling, named Puck. Ambrosia was not caught in heat, but both these girls were bred for 2022. In 2021, Rigel has four does kidding from him: Buttercup, Cressy, Honey Moon, and Amie. Click here for details.
Buttercup kidded on February 14, giving us two adorable doelings, one of whom we retained. Meet Valentine and Chocolate Kiss (Kissy). Valentine is brown-eyed; Kissy got her daddy’s blue eyes.
Cressy kidded with twin boys, who went as wether pets together. Phoebus was brown eyed; Daimous was blue eyed.
Honey Moon kidded with boy/girl twins. Melissa and her brother, Honey Mead. Both had brown eyes.
Amie kidded with boy/girl twins as well: blue-eyed Pierre and brown-eyed Madaline (retained).
2022 Kids
Rigel sired kids from four does. Unfortunately, one of them (Buttercup) had a preemie kidding (triplet bucklings) who were all lost. Twinkle had 1 buckling/2doelings (retained); Cherie had 2 bucklings (one polled)/1 doeling (polled and retained); and Rosie had a superb single, brown-eyed boy, whom we retained, named Storybook’s Nonpareil. He is replacing his dad in our herd.
