“Mazy” is the fulfillment of yet another dream!
Ever since I learned that Green Gables’ Eclipse (Mazy’s dam) milked 14# on test last year, I’ve wanted a boy out of her. Little did I know that he would have amazing breed character, with ears for years, a super level topline, and great conformation throughout. Well done, Eliya Elmquist!
Mazy is line bred on several wonderful Green Gables/Echo Hills animals: Moonbeam, Trillium, and US Grant, to name a few. So far, he’s staying small, too, which is a bonus. He sired two litters in 2023, and we’re looking for more great kids, Lord willing, in 2024.

Mazy’s Dam Line & Littermate Sister
Green Gables FF Cali Eclipse 5*P
Eliya Elmquist writes of her: “ECLIPSE is an amazing doe although she is NOT photogenic. Eclipse has a ton of capacity and is one of our heaviest milkers giving over 1500# a year. Her rear udder is super high. Her teats are longer than ideal, but VERY easy to milk with large orifices, so we are happy. She is a favorite one to milk here as it only takes a few moments to milk her completely. She lives up to her highly productive heritage.
She has very nice breed character with long pendulous ears and a very roman nose. She has a lovely topline with sharp, tight withers, a strong chine, and a long, wide, level and flat rump (although it almost NEVER looks right in photos!). Eclipse has a sweet, quiet personality.”

Eclipse’s 2nd Freshening Udder
Eliya Elmquist writes: “She is linebred on one of the most amazing MiniNubian does who has become a legend among MiniNubian breeders: VMCH Echo Hill’s Molly O’Malley 2*P. Eclipse was been slower to mature, but bloomed as a 2nd freshening 3 year old with amazing production and filled out much more.”
In 2020, Eclipse place twice on the Top 10 305-Day List: #3 for milk volume and #5 for total butterfat. She earned her milk star in both volume and butterfat!
In 2021, Eclipse peaked on test at 14#.

Mazy’s Littermate Sister: Green Gables Shooting Star
Here is Mazy’s sister’s udder early in her first lactation. It has great height. Her escutcheon is wide. Great teats and teat placement, and a very strong medial. We love it!
Eclipse’s Dam: Green Gables Cali Luna 4*P
Eliya again: “Eclipse’s dam’s udder was everything I breed for: Incredible capacity, excellent teat placement, high, wide rear udder, well extended and smoothly blended foreudder, correct udder shape and TONS of milk peaking at 10# as a 2nd freshener!”
VMCH Echo Hill’s Molly O’Malley 2*P
This is Molly’s Udder. She is Eclipse’s paternal grand dam and maternal great grand dam. Until “eclipsed” by her granddaughter, Molly held the barn record at Green Gables, giving 11# on test.
Amazing Asteroid’s Sire Line
Mazy’s Sire
Green Gables MB Amazing Comet *B
Eliya writes: “COMET is a buck that combines some of my favorite smaller lines and well attached udders. His dam Grace, is only 25″ tall, but a good milker with a gorgeous udder that is tightly attached and easy to milk. On his sire’s side, he has Trillium, who was also a smaller doe at just under 25” and also produced a lot of milk from a VERY tightly attached udder.
Comet brings excellent breed character, length of bone and dairy character into one prettily marked package. He has an amazing topline, strong feet and legs with gorgeous angulation to his rear legs, and extreme of length of body and good body capacity. We retained his daughter, Lady Elegance and she freshened with a VERY correct udder that is very well put together with great attachments, shape, perfect teat placement and a smooth foreudder. We have one more daughter, Rapunzel, … who freshened with a socked on udder with long, easy to milk teats and excellent udder texture.”

Comet’s Dam (Mazy’s Grand Dam)
Green Gables EHJ Amazing Grace *P
Eliya Elmquist writes the following of her: “GRACE is a very small doe and so sweet. Grace has beautiful conformation with a loooong, deep body, level topline, well extended brisket, and strong feet and legs. Grace’s udder is VERY nice. It is tightly attached, super soft, and capacious. She is very easy to milk with her nice, long, correctly placed teats.
She also has very high butterfat like her granddam, Misty. In ’09, Grace’s average butterfat was 6.30% with her highest test coming back at almost 9%! In 2010, her average BF was even higher at 6.43%. She also had a very high protein test with an average of 4.27% in 2010. In 2011, she had even higher BF with 7%!
Her volume of milk was rather low her first two freshenings, when she had single doelings, but she freshened with triplet bucks in 2011, and her volume went WAY up. She is milks around 5-6 lbs a day for most of her lactation, which is very nice production for a doe her size. She was still going strong in 2013 with her 5th freshening where she gave us QUADRUPLETS. We have retained her son, Comet, as a herdsire. We also have two of her daughters in the herd, Hope and Gloria.”
Mazy’s Kids at Storybook FArm
2023 Kids
In 2022, Mazy was bred to two does: Storybook’s Shimmer and Storybook’s Marguerite. Both does had singleton doelings! Shimmer had Aveena (photo credit to Cyndi Cusato) and Marguerite had Anastasia.
2024 Kids
In 2024, Mazy was bred to nine of our does: Biscotti, Valentine, Champagne, Duchess, Bluebelle, Glimmer, Lilac, Marguerite — and he bred our fence jumper, Giselle. I especially bred him to my first fresheners because he was then my smallest adult buck. I was truly amazed at the breed character that Mazy put on his kids. Below are their pictures.
2025 Kids
Mazy is slated to breed five does in the fall of 2024.
